Muthiah, the founder of the studio which produced the former, denied this and said that he had not remade his own film, but chose to base his production on Kannada play by the same name written by popular Tamil author Tiruvarur K. Thangaraj. The film is made under P. S. Sivaswami, the production manager of Manorama Pictures, and he went to Bombay, where he stayed for three months, after which he went to England to meet people in the Tamil film industry. The film's shooting started on 13 December 1953 and ended in April 1954. Shooting was done in Southern India, primarily at the studio's own theatre. Some sequences were also shot at the Radha Theatre, although R. Krishnan, who was the director of the play, took time to agree to the changes made to the script and to the actual look of the film. The film was later shot in Bombay using a different cast. The movie was released on 8 May 1954 and was well received by the audience. Plot The film is based on a romance between a poor person and a rich man. The rich man is associated with European culture. The poor man does not know their customs and their manners. To show his cultural superiority, he throws away the umbrella when an umbrella is thrown at him. The poor man enters their house and does not know to apologize for this act. The rich man's wife feels outraged and she tells this to her husband. Due to the rich man's insistence, the poor man's wife gets irritated. The rich man brings the poor man's wife to their house. The wife is given a bed to sleep in. She does not want to lay in it.
